Can you describe what style your outdoor space is right now? Does it match the inside of your home or do you like having the two spaces separated? Just like with your home, your landscape needs to make a good impression on not only your guests but you as well. You’ve designed your home to be the one place where you can relax and enjoy your surroundings, why should your outdoor space be any different? Here are just a few styles you can create to reflect who you are and what you want to achieve.
Minimal: Do you like a clean, simple, but elegant look? With a minimal landscape, it’s a little easier to maintain where your favorite flowers can be showcased. It also gives you a blank canvas to work with in case you want to add more later on.
Topiary: Landscapes with structure look well put together. Topiary landscapes are when bushes are pruned into either round or square shapes.
Formal: If you enjoy straight lines, geometric shapes, and symmetrical patterns, the formal landscape is the way to go. Your outdoor space will be orderly and well-pruned. This landscape style does require more maintenance to keep the look.
Butterfly: Do you enjoy seeing butterflies or birds flying around your home? There are specific plants that butterflies, birds, and even bees use as a food source. Make sure it’s in an area that’s not windy so the birds and butterflies can comfortably get their meal.
Xeriscape: Do you want a gorgeous garden, but don’t want to use a lot of water? Xeriscape gardens are created with plants that don’t need a lot of water to survive.
Informal: Even if the plants were installed on your property, there’s something about letting nature take over that’s beautiful. Plants can be randomly placed or flower beds can be curved.
