Turf Type Tall Fescue

When we talk about Fescue Grass for lawns, we are generally referring to what is known as “turf type tall fescue”. This grass is great for shady areas and high traffic lawns. This grass type is becoming more and more popular due to its higher drought tolerance compared to Kentucky Bluegrass. This fescue also has a higher degree of resistance to disease and insects.

Mowing

Standard mowing practices should be observed for the fescues. Mow at 3”-4” during the growing season.

Watering

Turf Type Tall Fescue has excellent drought tolerance, but may still need irrigation in extreme conditions

Planting

Grass can be planted through seed or sod.
