Bahia Grass

Bahia Grass is a very hardy grass that it used frequently along the coastal areas of Florida. Bahia has very high drought resistance. The grass requires a high level a mowing maintenance during hot weather, and has very low resistance to weed control herbicides. People often fertilize in the fall and winter to keep Bahia Grass green, but this encourages weed populations.

Mowing

Bahia Grass requires frequent mowing during the hotter months, making it unsuitable for many people. State agencies have trouble maintain Bahia because of the level of mowing it requires.

Watering

Bahia is a very drought resistant turf, so it requires little if no watering. If it is watered when it isn’t needed, the grass can be ruined.

Planting

Grass can be planted through seed or sod.
