When fertilization first began, it wasn’t terrible.  But as usage rose and N-P-K requirements increased, so did the effect on the environment.  This is a continuing problem that has needed a resolution for a long time.

The traditional method of using Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium is very detrimental to our water systems.  They are designed to make green things grow, and when they reach our water systems they do just that.

An excess of these nutrients in water can create a rapid increase in the growth of phytoplankton, known as algal bloom.  During their night time cellular respiration, they deplete the water of available oxygen.  When these blooms die off, more oxygen is used during the decomposition of the dead algal cells.  This process leads to what are called “dead zones”, areas of water where there is little to no life due to a lack of available oxygen in the water.

This can also lead to a lack of reproduction in our aquatic wildlife because the oxygen deficiencies lead to abnormalities in their reproductive systems.  The largest of these dead zones is in the Gulf of Mexico.  You can read about the Gulf Of Mexico Dead Zone here.

We feel that continuing to apply high rates of N-P-K and chemicals when there is an equally effective organic option is simply irresponsible.

At some point the question must be asked-  Is my lawn more important than my water?  The answer should be no.  But with our product you no longer have to sacrifice one for the other.

Another factor to consider with respect to the environment is the use of man-made chemicals.  While these chemicals can and should be used effectively and responsibly, they usually are not.

At the end of the day, most customers want a thick green lawn with no weeds.  In order to provide that, the use of these chemicals is necessary.  It is a known fact that chemicals are bad for us and our environment, so it only makes sense to find a way to use less of them.

Chemicals can be used for their purpose in a manner that is less devastating to us and our environment with the right system.  The Rgreen organic lawn care service does just that.

A little bit goes a long way in the fight to save our world, and we are proud to say that we our doing our part while still providing the utmost quality lawn care service that our customers have come to expect.
